After all the controversy surrounding her, getting married cause she was pregnant as a teenager, people claiming she was trying to be better then Beyonce. Solange is determined to show the world that she is her own person and set her mark in today's music.
I mostly decided to listen to the album mostly after reading so many comments about how the entire album spoke about her and everything she sings is real so i wanted to get a deeper look in what sister Knowles was really about.
The entire album was mostly about a mix of disco and folklore type. Even tho i hate those kind of music, her voice, her interesting choice of lyrics kept me listening to the songs that (some) felt short. Very catchy, but after the 6th tune i lost interest and went pretty fast through the rest. It felt like a lot of the songs were sounding the same.
In each song she seems to have a different message which was a plus. It's definitely a change of the same slow hip-hop RnB beats but is still not for everyone. I still could feel that Solange is trying too hard but nonetheless the album is a thumb's up in my book if you are looking for something different the what's out there. The only song that stood out from the album apart from I Decide was God Given Name.
