The 39 Years old Woman is back a year later with "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel", set for September 29th 2009. This time she's ready to show everyone that she hasn't lost anything. She teamed up with some of the best producers like Tricky Stewart, The Dream, one of the Debarge brother and it seem one song was produced by Randy Jackson from American Idol. With a serious lined up like that would you expect anything but the best?
Before i even played the cd I had high expectation on that one just with the type of promo pictures she had, how much work she seemed to have put in this one and the lack of Jermaine Dupri. I was not let down at all.
Mariah first welcomes up in a day in her life, a memoirs of an imperfect angel with
Betcha don't know. What a better way to open a cd but to guide your listeners through your journey. In this one she talks about running out of the house driving laughing of anger. That you don't know how it feels. This one had mostly alto singing but she sang it perfectly.
Obviously everyone knows about
Obsessed but listening to the album i paid closer attention to the record and "I'm a press conference, you're only a conversation". Mariah definitely upgraded when it comes to her lyrics. But this one has The dream all over it, the beat, the lyrics.
In
H.A.T.E.U she talks about how she can't wait to hate you for leaving, saying goodbye, Mariah serenade you through that one. We finally got our 1990's Mariah.
Candy Bling i didn't personally like it remind me of "Shorty is a ten" by the dream. But nonetheless she sang it and I couldn't concentrate on the lyrics the finger snapping was getting in the way of concentrating on Mariah's beautiful voice.
In Ribbon she featured vocals with The Dream, which seems to have sample "Video Camera", in this one she talks about she wish she had 20 million dollars to caress him. This one was just standard nothing special.
I was expecting to have a lot more of Pop in it, but everything was mostly Slow tempo or Mid Tempo. Too many tracks had The Dream's stamp on it, which is not totally bad but I'm not a big fan of The Dream's voice. But this is a better work then E=MC2 album. Good Look For Mariah.
I would say my favorite track on the entire album was "Angel Cry". It gave me a "Vision" feeling, which to me was Mariah's best time. Every night she feels the angel cry. This one was amazing. Finally hit us with the High notes that we've been languishing for. She then ended the L.P with her single which is doing great on the charts "I Want To Know What Love Is".
As a resume, Mariah Carey tried to reproduce the old Mariah we loved, the Tommy Mottola time, and she did it perfectly, I just wish The Dream didn't actually provided his vocal, he's a great producer that I can't lie about. I was able to just listen from first track to the end. I would recommend this one to any Mariah Carey's fan. You Will NOT be disappointed.
