Yo as i tell everyone who computer crashes who usually have LW on their computer ... get rid of it! ... It not safe , from experience i can tell you that... You may think your computer is safe but limewire loads and open your internet ports at start up and it usually goes undetected by most fire walls ...

My only advice is do with out it and Peer to Peer programs like this

When you uninstall it to prove my point Type (msconfig ) in your Run Bar Start > Run ....Go to the Start Up Tab and you will see all the programs that start up when you boot up your PC .... You can uncheck it if you like and you can uncheck programs you not sure about in the same list ...***Make sure you set a restore point before you uncheck anything*** Start > All Programs > Accessories >System Tools > Restore point

If you dont wanna delete the Limewire then my advice is Dual Boot (Install another OS ) on your harddrive

There is nothing wrong with LW. It is as safe as you make yourself just like any file sharing program. Yes LW runs on Java, but the only reason it is java based is so that it can be used on any OS platform that supports Java (ie: win, mac, linux, etc.)

LW starts running slowly is when being run on older model computers.

Some initial questions:

What version of LW are you running?
What OS are you running? RAM ROM?
Do you have the full version of LW or are you just using the basic (trial)?
When LW is running what is its system priority?
Do you have a firewall?
Do you have an AV?
