Ninja Man's Son Still In jail

Popular deejay Desmond 'Ninja Man' Ballentine and his two co-accused, Janile, his son and Clayton Dennis, will be spending more time in police lock-up as an October 15 date was yesterday set for the continuation of the enquiry into the murder charge against them.

The matter was brought to court yesterday when the new date was set.

The witness, said to be a relative of the deceased Ricardo 'Ricky Trooper' Johnson, 20, continued giving evidence on the stand yesterday as well.

On September 7, the witness told the court the deejay and his son were seen jumping over a wall with guns. The witness said shots were later heard and Johnson was found lying in blood at the back of the yard.

Allegations are that Johnson was sweeping his yard in the company of a friend on the day in question, when a motorcar with three men aboard drove up. An argument developed between Johnson's friend and the men who left but reportedly returned later with guns blazing. Johnson was fatally shot in the incident.

Ninja Man turned himself in to the police after they expressed an interest in him, while his son and the other accused were held during a police operation in St Ann. The trio is also charged with conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
