Is anyone going to watch this documentary It premieres this Tuesday, February 6 at 10:00pm, and is supposed to explore the roots of the Crips and the Bloods.

*Here's a snippet from the synopsis of the film:
Raised in the Athens Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, Cle "Bone" Sloan was four years old when his father died, and 12 when he became a member of the Bloods. Now an inactive member of the notorious gang, Sloan looks back at the history of black gangs in his city and makes a powerful call for change in modern gang culture with his insightful documentary, BASTARDS OF THE PARTY.
Here's the rest of the synopsis...

*Here are a few snippets of the interview with filmaker Cle 'Bone' Sloan:
HBO: How did you go from gang member to documentary filmmaker?
Cle "Bone" Sloan: '... Art saved my life. I fell in love with filmmaking. The process. I just became obsessed with it. And I was obsessed with my neighborhood also. So, what I did was, I kind of married the two, and I always loved documentaries, before I even knew they were called documentaries. And that was the beginning of 'Bastards of the Party...'

HBO: With this film it seems like you're putting a challenge to yourself and everyone around you.
Cle "Bone" Sloan: '... Iraq's low numbers was eight hundred, seven hundred, a thousand a year. We were riding those same numbers. Think about it. No hand grenades. No helicopter bombs. This is just straight up, one-on-one, old fashioned gangbangin...'

HBO: How has the film been received in your community?
Cle "Bone" Sloan: '... That's how we ended up as Crips and Bloods. We came out of something good, is what I'm trying to say. And I think that gives guys a sense of pride. Like, wow, we're not just a bunch of crazy guys, this is what happened?!'
And here's the rest of the interview...

Exactly ... I guess it's all the cussing and "graphicness" of some of the scenes... but just like "The Wire" jumped from HBO to BET, I'm sure "Bastards of the Party" will make it's way into onto one of the major networks, lol... it's just a matter of time
