AMAZING film

In 1930s India, a young girl, not even aware she was married, becomes a widow and is sent to live in a compound with other widows... by hindu law widows must live a life of grief.

A widow should be long suffering until death, self-restrained and chaste.
A virtuous wife who remains chaste when her husband has died, goes to heaven.
A woman who is unfaithful to her husband is reborn in the womb of a jackal.

this is the opening of the movie^^

while in the house, the little girl befriends another young widow, and also interacts with the young and old ones
