According to Macchio, the film should not be remade because too many movies are ruined by remakes.

i feel they should leave it outta respect 4 the late Mr. Kesuke Miyagi, i love Will Smiths movies but they can't and shouldn't redo this 1

i don think they shud remake it

but at the end of the day it come down to the person who own the rights tothe movie....Does Will own the rights to the karate kid

i think i heard something about him redoing it so his son could star in it...dont know how true
