The Rite Movie Review

Michael Kovak works in a funeral home and is also a preacher. He wants to drop out of the ministry, quoting lack of faith, which makes it worst, when he watches as a young woman gets hit by a truck and begs him to give the last rite. His mentor urges him to go to Italy, to take an exorcism class, hoping it will strengthen his faith. They send him to an old priest who performs exorcism on a daily basis. He witnesses the exorcism of a 16 year old pregnant girl but is still not convinced, blames insanity. He witnesses many others but his faith is still nearly nonexistent until the demon, reveals himself and tests him. His final test will arrive where only his faith can save him.

I was intrigued by the cover of the movie and was pleasantly surprised. Anthony Hopkin’s a great actor and brings nothing but the best to this one. The sarcasm made me giggle, the possessed part was well played. I can’t say It was frightening, as not many of these movies really scares me. Very believable, If you seen others exorcists movies, then you know what to expect. The story line was easy to follow, build up nicely, the end was predictable, wished a twist was added. Colin O’Donoghue did a good job as a man who did not believe in God nor demons. The set up in Florence, Italy, was well designed. Nonetheless, It is a decent movie to watch on those cold boring days, If you get easily scared, then this one will most likely scare you.
