Captain America The First Avenger Review

It’s World War II, 1942, Steve Rogers, a rather short, skinny but smart man is deemed unfit to join the military forces 5 times. He refuses to give up and continues to try, as he wants to help his country against the Nazis. He doesn’t believe his size should matter. When Dr. Abraham Erskine overhears him talking, gives him a shot and puts him through the test. After he passes the tests, he accepts to take part of this top secret research that turns him into a strong force. He is at first seen as a simply gimmick to make money until his friend is missing at war and goes alone to save him and the other men. He is then, chosen, to be, Captain America and to bring Johann Schmidt, best known as, Red Skull down who’s trying to destroy the world.

I barely remember Captain America from my kid years so I wouldn’t be able to comment on whether they followed the story line or not but this movie is just another typical super hero movie, acting was good for most, visual effects were believable and nicely made. Especially the visual effects with him looking skinny, If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t have believed, It was a body double. I enjoyed how his attitude matched the skinny man, It portrait perfectly, the attitude of someone who was made fun and beat up all of his life. But would this movie be rated so high if it wasn’t for the name behind it? That I’m not sure. Typical story line, fights, shootings, explosion, easy to follow, a few chuckles, the end isn’t your typical end. It definitely leads the viewers to believe, there will be many more Captain America movies. Nonetheless, It was entertaining, a bit long. I’m glad they didn’t drag the love story. With that being said, If you are not a Captain America fan, this movie will end up being just typical however I’m positive, the fans, will be satisfied.
