Though things couldn't be better for Chris Brown right now, the multi-platinum
While growing up, Brown watched his stepfather repeatedly abuse his mother. "He used to hit my mom. He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself," he recalled. "I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day...' I hate him to this day."

Brown's hatred of his stepfather's abuse haunted him so much that he even warned his mother that if she did not leave her husband, there'd be a big price to pay. "I just want you to know that I love you," the then-11-year-old warned her. "But one day I'm gonna take a baseball bat one day while you're at work, and I'm gonna kill him."

Luckily for Brown, he had music, basketball and art to distract him from his troubles at home. Fast forward seven years and his mom has since divorced his stepdad and Brown, now 18-years-old, is gearing up for the follow-up to his self-titled debut.

However, Brown admits that even though his boyish good looks have launched him into teen heartthrob status, it doesn't guarantee that he'll always get the girl. Though he approached songbird Ciara before and after he shot to fame, she turned him down both times. He even confessed his feelings to Ciara's ex, Bow Wow, with whom Brown collaborated with on "Shortie Like Mine." Chris is talking his rejection in stride, though.

"I don't stunt her that much because if I know somebody's not attracted like that, I'm not gonna push," he said. "At the end of the day, you're not blessed with everything."
