sad to hear it close as its been a fixture in the community for years. Ive been going almost every year since i was about 9. Even though the rides were not the best or most exciting ... or even though it was a little messy at times, Coney Island is a historic family location. I went there this summer just to check out the scene. And we had fun.
Sad... but, if they are going to rebuild a 'better' more safe area, i guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out. I just hope they dont just build buildings on the lot. That would be a shame. |

I've been going there with my family since I was a kid so I have lots of fond memories of the carnival atmosphere, food, prizes & the rides. It was really the only amusement park for many in NYC. There's Six Flags Great Adventure but that's all the way in New Jersey & you gotta pay just to get in. Well hopefully whatever they do will be affordable & family themed....
