Man Arrested With 1,000 Spiders in Luggage
A British man was arrested at Rio de Janeiro airport for trying to smuggle 1,000 live spiders out of Brazil in his luggage.
The unnamed pet shop owner was taken into custody after security X-ray's revealed hundreds of spiders, including tarantulas, in two of the man's suitcases, a story by BBC News said. It is believed he wanted to sell the spiders in his pet shop, the story said.
The man is free on bond, but unable to leave the country. He is facing up to a year in jail and a maximum fine of up to $2.3 million. The spiders were taken to a museum in Rio's federal university
