A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to MTV News late Sunday (February that Chris Brown is in custody at the Wilshire Police Station, in connection with an alleged domestic violence felony battery report. The singer voluntarily turned himself in to be questioned. He had not been arrested or charged over the incident at press time, according to an information officer, who declined to identify the injured party in the alleged assault.

According to The Associated Press, the LAPD said in a release that the 19-year-old R&B singer and an unidentified woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Sunday when they began arguing.

The Los Angeles Times had reported late Sunday that sources inside the LAPD said the victim in the attack was singer Rihanna, although that report had been removed from the paper's Web site at press time.

Police said Brown and the woman got out of the car and the argument escalated; the woman reportedly identified Brown as her attacker. Officers said Brown was not present at the scene when they arrived. People.com reported that the woman suffered visible injuries.

A rep for Brown had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment at press time.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Web site, Rihanna and Brown were involved in a car accident early Sunday; a rep for her would not confirm or deny the accident, saying only that "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the care and support."

MTV News' attempts to reach Brown's spokesperson for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.

It was announced Sunday night that neither Rihanna nor Chris Brown would appear at the Grammy Awards as scheduled.

Rihanna was confirm as the victim

Rihanna is the named alleged victim in the Chris Brown case and the allegation is that she was assaulted with a deadly weapon. Law enforcement sources tell us the crime report calls the incident assault with a deadly weapon — we do not yet know the nature of the weapon. The crime report gives the victim’s name as Robyn Fenty — that’s Rihanna’s real name.

People are speculating the cause of the altercation as ranging from an STD being passed (after Rihanna was spotted with a cold sore a few weeks back), to a drunken fight that escalated way too far, to a jealous rage and fight due to another man/woman being in the picture. Interestingly, Chris has previously discussed in interviews that his stepfather was physically abusive toward his mother. Chris has also secured high powered attorney Mark Geragos, the same lawyer for Michael Jackson who helped him defeat those molestation charges.

Im not defending Chris or anything ... there is USUALLY no reason a man should put his hand on a woman ... but, we dont know the whole story. We dont know if Rhianna hit him first and he hit her back in defense.... and we dont even know if it really was Rhianna that he assaulted.

There are also suspicions that Rhianna gave him herps ... shyyyyt if someone game me herps a couple slaps will be the least of her worries.
