Rihanna took a break from her usual risque bikini shots to show a softer side on Twitter Sunday morning after her beloved grandmother Dolly passed away.
The "Where Have You Been" singer shared a number of intimate photos of herself and her ailing grandma on Twitter, with the message: "Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you."
Just a few hours earlier, the Barbados beauty performed at Sweden's Peace & Love music festival, where she reportedly showed up late and seemed out of sorts.
At one point, she even grew somber, singing a cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song."
"Gran Gran Dolly," as Rihanna referred to her grandmother, had suffered from cancer.
Fans of the singer know that she has always been close to her grandparents, even gathering at their apartment in Brooklyn to celebrate Gran Gran Dolly's birthday this past March.
Amid the outpouring of support and condolences that emerged on Twitter, however, two messages stood out in particular.
Rihanna's ex Chris Brown, who no longer follows her on Twitter, wrote a message expressing his support.
"Praying for family and the lost loved one," he wrote. "She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP."
Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, added her condolences as well.
"@rihanna ANGEL MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW," she wrote from her @mombreezy account. "LOVE YOU ANGEL."
Rihanna replied with a simple: "Thank you! Love u mama."
