Disaster movie maven Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) crafts this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller following the prophecy stated by the ancient Mayan calendar, which says that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012. When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) joins the race to ensure that humankind is not completely wiped out. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, and Oliver Platt round out the cast of this end-of-the-world thriller co-scripted by the director and his 10,000 B.C. writer/composer, Harald Kloser

In 2009, an Indian scientist detect large solar flares or storms on the surface of the sun and then notice the frightening effect these storms were having on the earth’s core. He shares the information with his friend and colleague Adrian Helmsley played by Chiwetel Ejiofor...The data shows that the destruction of the earth is imminent so Dr Helmsley informs the president of the US played by Danny Glover, who then passes the info onto the various world leaders. The leaders decide not to inform the public but make plans to save themselves various animal species, art work etc...and of course those rich enough to purchase tickets aboard the ark like ships...

Before going to see the movie I had heard many bad reviews so my expectations were low…however I have to say that I enjoyed it…the story line was simple and yes at times fairly predictable but the visual effects were really a feast to the eyes, if you like big explosions and panoramic views of large scale destruction then you will enjoy it, since that is about 90% of the movie…
if you believe in or fear the 2012 prediction, or if you are deep into conspiracy theories, then this movie might just feed your paranoia…
if you are looking for an explanation as to why or how the Mayas came this conclusion or if you go see the movie trying analyze it in a scientific manner then you will be very disappointed since the Mayas are barely mentioned in the movie and some details from a scientific view were not very logical...
so all in all..it’s just a very visual, very entertaining movie…nothing deep…nice for date...i dont know how the visual or sound effects would translate to a tv or a monitor since the theater environment does play a part in visually drawing you into the large scale destruction... i give it a 3.5 out of 5

Needy is in a mental institution. She tells her story. She was a normal high school student with Jennifer, her best friend. One night instead of staying at home with her boyfriend, Jennifer drags her into a club which ends up really being a bar. They have a famous group performing and Jennifer pretends to be a virgin and leaves with them, while the club burns down. Needy is worried because she think they will rape her best friend. If only she knew how far from the reality she was. Jennifer appears that night completely different. Weird events happens. Needy isn't sure but she thinks It's Jennifer. Something has possessed her but what and how do you get rid of it? Does Jennifer has to die, to be free or did Needy imagine all that? Or was she the one possessed and did all that?

So I watched the movie really mostly to see what was the big fuss about that movie. I didn't watched the entire thing i really just fast forward through it. The acting wasn't too bad, the movie itself was low budget, type of the 70's 80's scary movie type, but that was probably the point of it. I can't say Jennifer was really acting it seemed to have been "herself". I was let down by the end, it was awfully predictable and no real explanation was giving at the end. I would say if you're a Megan Fox fan go right ahead you'll get a treat, if not I'm not sure if would suggest it, i got mix feelings about it.

Movie Reviews Good Hair Movie Review

The movie opened with old video footage of beautiful black women with relax, braided and very well...

The movie opened with old video footage of beautiful black women with relax, braided and very well styled hair to then project to newer and newest footage of hair up to today.

He featured different black actress, actors, activists such as Nia long, Melyssa Ford, Al sharpton, Ice-T and much more. He even featured some well known personality in Atlanta, Derek J who's If i remember right, Monica's or someone else' hair dresser.

Each spoke about how important hair is to them and the society. Some even mention how much they spent weekly how much they had currently. I do feel a bit let down that he didn't use more women that had no weave on whether permed or dreaded in the movie. There was a few but comparing to those with the fake hair it wasn't enough to me.

He went into different hair dresser in where one actually surprised me when she said bad hair to me are those with curly hair because it's so hard to take care of even harder then nappy hair.

He went into the perm manufacturer as well, in which I've learned that for 7000 pounds of perm also called creamy crack was worth about 18,000$. He did some test with a professor, what a certain ingredient in perm could do to a Coca can within hour, hours and a full day, the can disintegrate. Imagine in your head. They did a test as well on some chicken, it just went "through" the chicken.

He went even deeper and touched the "Weave, Front lace etc". He even interviewed some men that i was really surprised, some have said women's hair are the reason i rather go white etc. It really gave me a very close look to how men think of "black" woman's hair instead of maybe embracing and helping women feel that hey baby, your short, bald head i love it no matter what.

He went to India, to get more info on where and how they take the hair (even steal! them), how it gets processed, sewed then sold in L.A. They got into the progression of before it was a shamed to be wearing weave, people used to go stores back entrance to buy weave. The lay away plan for weave, how much some cost like 1000$ - 6000$ , Chris rock even mock one of them who's a school teacher and college graduate and tell her well wait a minute, school teacher don't make no money? He even spoke to men who have to pay for their women's weave, like one had to pay for his wife and daughter. can you imagine? You would ask how do they sell them? Well it feels like it's almost on black market, it's in a suit case, they walk into different places and within few hours it's sold out.

He spoke to high school soon to be graduate kids who basically said they would not leave your hair unprocessed, because at interview it doesn't look good.

He also showed some type of hair dressing contest, you win a 20K and obviously getting your name all over the place bu t honestly i paid little to no attention to this one. It was pure foolishness.

Out of all, at first in interviews i did feel that Chris Rock was making fun of black women but really my attitude changed viewing this movie. I see he was just trying to shed some lights on how far "us" black women would go just to please and "think" we are beautiful with all of that. It hurts me to see some people who can't eat, pay their rent just to afford their weave. I had NO idea it was like that I for one hate the feeling of weave on my scalp. Al sharpton said something that make a lot of sense, they don't want me to send them to school, get an education but you want me to pay for hair?

Something else that got me angry when Chris went to try to sell black people hair and the asian said it wasn't worth anything, Chris asked the seller if he thought someone would get sickle cell or something from taking the "black" people hair and the asian dude simply said yes! At one point even the black woman chimed in and said it's no good. I'm just angry at this and i will leave it as is to hear what you guys think.

I'll give this 10! Thank you Chris Rock For Bringing this to me.

After watching the documentary on ODB it shed some light on a lot of things. All the members of Wu...

After watching the documentary on ODB it shed some light on a lot of things. All the members of Wu Tang, family members shared their memories on him as well. The point of wu-tang was to change the way people viewed the ghetto parts of New York.

Loads I've learned like when he performs and he leans back as if he was falling was actually to mimic the drunken master from Kung Fu movies and also meant he was ready to bust ur a$$.

He grew up and had many siblings, his uncles had many children which is probably why he was able to have 13 kids but in contrary of most fathers of today, he took care of each and every one of them. His mother made sure of it. He grew up listening to good old school music like Marvin Gaye, which explains how he was able to sing so well and hold a note.

By creating his group Brooklyn Zoo he made sure all his home boys made it too. That's something a lot of artists of today lack, they all want to make it and be solo on the top.

ODB wasn't only crazy on stage, but a funny one too, Like Rza shared a memory of him having a girlfriend and ODB tongue kissed her before he even did. Think he would be sour? no he laughed at it.

They spoke about him being sent to a drug free facility, broke out to join the Wu on stages and got sent afterward to few years in jail. He mention many times that the government wanted to kill him, his family thought he was crazy but no one up to today even knows why he spoke about it and why. They shared also some crazy and freaky stories almost like he could see the future.

The years in jail took a tole on him, he seemed to have been loosing his mind, his brother showed a picture and explained what he went through to even the Chip they put in him.

Before leaving his mother's house, he told his mom today will be the last time you see me. And that was it. ODB died off Pain killers overdose, in the dvd they explain why.

After watching the DVD it made me see what kind of person he really was. The media made him look like a menace to society, meanwhile he was trying to be himself, a free spirit. He wasn't hurting anyone, bit trying to show people how to think and live for themselves and not be brain washed by the government.

For all you Wu Tang or ODB fans this is something to get!!

Rainforest Films is set to do the sequel 'Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming,' with Will Packer serving as producer and Rob Hardy as writer-director.

While casting is under way, Columbus Short is rumored to reprise his role as DJ. The sequel is set to shoot early next month in Atlanta.

Hardy was an executive producer on the original 'Stomp the Yard,' which was released in 2007 and grossed $74 million worldwide.

"I think certain films lend themselves to the sequel treatment better than others," Packer told Blackvoices.com. "The interesting backdrop of black colleges that we were able to portray in the first one lends itself to a myriad of storylines. In STY2 we follow a new group of students as they attempt to win the national step competition while navigating the biggest weekend of the year: Homecoming."

Together, Packer and Hardy have worked on 'Chocolate City,' 'Trois,' 'Pandora's Box,' 'Trois 3: The Escort,' 'Motives 2,' 'The Gospel,' and 'Three Can Play That Game.'

Along with 'STY 2,' Rainforest's 'Takers,' which stars Idris Elba, Chris Brown and rapper T.I., will be released through Screen Gems in February.

Duke and Ripcord are selected to deliver the war heads filled with Nanomites, which when activated will destroy anything made out of metal on command. While delivering they get attack, tries to steal it but the G.I Joe's intervenes and saves them. The Baroness with the help of Storm Shadow steals the Nano heads. The will recruit Duke and Ripcord after a hard test and they'll have to find out who what and why did they steal it and prevent the worst from happening. What Dukes will found out might be too much for one's soul an will him and Ripcord be able to save the world from the worst?

I will tell you right away, I've never watched G.I Joe so i was totally lost and still am. I have no idea if they followed the original comic book story, per others comments it doesn't seem like it. The movie was filled with action, the actors were great but the story line totally confusing if you have no idea what the Joe's are about. The movie ended with 2 questions unanswered but besides that great action movie. The costumes i do believe lacked of, looked fake, they probably needed Michael Bay for that one. The fight scenes were filled. It wasn't too predictable which was a plus. I would still recommend this movie, not for the die hard fans, but for those like me, in need of something to watch for these boring week-ends/week-day.
