Mumia Abu-Jamaica Might Get Sentenced To Death Anyways
Is it really worth it to put him to death IF he did kill the cop? i've heard about this guy for years...But now 26 years ago will that really help? and do you think his guilty?
A federal appeals court is reviewing the issue of whether the death penalty should be reinstated against Black activist and accused cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal. The death sentence against the former member of the Black Panther Party and outspoken journalist, who was accused of killing Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner more than 26 years ago, was overturned in 2001. But for the past eight months, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has been pondering whether or not Abu-Jamal should face execution, rejecting the 2001 decision, which was based on instructions that were deemed confusing to the jury. If the appeals court, does re-sentence him to death, his life would rest in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court, which hears fewer than 2 percent of all petitions filed each year, according to The Philadelphia Daily News. Abu-Jamal’s case has gained international attention over the years, as his defense team and others argue that the defendant was framed. The family of Faulkner says that Abu-Jamal is a brutal murderer who should have been killed by the state many years ago. Activists from throughout the world, however, contend that his execution, like those of other U.S. inmates, only emphasizes a racist, unjust system of American jurisprudence.
