what would you do if someone you care was dating an hiv positive

I was watching house of payne , the episode with the HIV positive girl who wasa dating calvin and me and killa were discussing who was right or wrong. If the mom was right for reacting the way she did, if the hiv + girl had a right not to say anything etc.

1. How would you react if your kid, close friend family would go on 1 date with someone that is HIV+ and doesn't know about it.
2. Flip the table would you say it right away or wait to see if it's really something serious etc

The Episode :

Calvin met Caryn who's hiv positive. They went on 1 date and Calvin's mom found out they the mysterious girl was Caryn. So she flipped and basically forced Caryn to tell Calvin on the 2nd date. So caryn was saying that she doesn't have to tell her entire life to someone on the 2nd date since it doesn't mean nothing they are getting to know each other and calvin got mad cause he said what if we would have been intimate and she basically said she would have mention it since she got infected by someone who didn't tell her.

ive never seen the episode/... but i feel if a person was hiv positive they should tell their partner.. if i someone i knew was dating an hiv positive person i would let the person know and speak out against it... as far as i know theres no cure and its deadly... if i recall correctly it is also a criminal offense on the hiv + person if the have sex without him or her lettin the partner know (assault with a deadly weapon)

I seen tha episode and feel the mom did the right thing in telling him even though she didn't know how far the relationship had gotten. What mother, relative or friend would sit quietly knowing the risks....

Calvin's reaction to the news was also understandable because he was interested in her then to find out she keeping this big secret from him.....that's deceitful.

even so i would still speak out.. yes the virus is only spread by exchange of body fluids.. but anything cud have happened like a cut or sumthin... and he's a dude who was probly thinkin of jumpin her bones the first time they met so he deserves to know

I dont think it matters. Just as long as the person knew how to protect themselves then id be cool with it. People discriminate people with aids and hiv so badly its very frustrating. I really think it's awful how people just shun those who have illnesses.

If it's wrong then are you telling me people with hiv/aids aren't allowed to find happiness or have sex anymore? Nah there's nothing wrong with it.

It is a very sticky and delicate situation, that is for sure. I can see different side of this..I think it should be not so much what number date this should be told about, but more importantly a "this is something someone else should know about before we kiss" is what I think it's all about. When you are potentially altering someone else's life, your right to freedom ends where his right to know begins.

there are certain things that can wait til the relationship gets a little more serious to share...but this isnt one of them...the person has the right to know...and it is the responsibility of the hiv+ person to tell them.....and it is ALL of our responsibility to start asking the "What is your Status" question of the ppl we date...but we also have to be responsible enough to answer truthfully when we are also asked..

for some reason, i find this so hard to believe or take in! Not saying ppl with hiv/aids arent allowed to find happiness or have sex anymore but i dont think he/she should put another person at risk! A simple kiss can change a personz life!!...My question to u is....WOULD YOU accept for a person who is infected not to tell you within the 1st or 2nd date...maybe not that soon but before you two get intimate?! matta fact yes that soon because a date usually can end in a good night kiss.....

And its not about shunning those with an illness...and illness is not a problem only the type of illness that can change my life as well..

I personally don't think i could date someone who is HIV positive....I wouldnt want to get to emotionally attached to them considering the situation....
