Like---I tend to use like when referring to things/ppl that’s pretty general…the emotion is constant day in day out…doesn’t really change its more matter fact…I like ppl…Iike socializing, I like trying different foods…I like music..ect..

Luv---this one I use more in a playful way on sites like this so there is no misunderstanding ..or ..i tend to use it in cases where something sparks a quick spike in the emotion but it’s not constant…it’s just that little temporary spark and its out of my mind right after…or I might use in written form as term of endearment when referring to someone with whom im comfortable… I might luv a music vid the first time I see it and not think about it again….or I might say…hey luv how are u…

Love—for me requires more attachment, caring, respecting someone/something…the emotional level is high and constant although not always requiring action…I love cultures but I didn’t have to become an anthropologist to still continue to enjoy that love and respect…I love my family and my friends and although I choose to act on that love…for many it seems that just knowing that I love and care about them and im there should they need me, is enough for them…just the knowledge without any expectations is enough which in itself is something special…

In love--- this one is high attachment level requiring action..i cant be in love with someone and not do something about it, either to enhance it or if necessary to change the emotion…there is the caring and respect that comes from loving them as a friend compounded by the passion/erotic emotions felt for a partner..this is constant…depending on the circumstances one side will become a little more dominant than the other…im always passionate and attracted to my man but when the friend that I am to him with the caring and respect is more required for the situation then that’s the emotion that will be more dominant….if the action that’s required of me is to change the emotion from being in love to just love or even indifferent then that is the action that I would take...
so based on my own definitions i can go from "like" to "love" to "being in love" with someone but i can also go from "being in love" with someone back to "love"...

Like - I like dogs, Ice cream, cheeseburgers, doubles and sunny days ... anything that brings happiness

Luv - I use luv only when texting as i am too lazy to type one extra letter. Mostly when i was a teen ... as i get older i dont use luv as much.

Love - an emotional attachment. I love my GF, mother, sister, brothers, aunts, uncles and dog.

In Love - no major difference from love other than two extra letters ... and it sounds more poetic ... aka romantic.

This thread just reminded me how much I dislike when people say "make love".

You cannot make love. Love is something that you have already for another being. Just say what you really mean ... you want to have sex ... or more common ... "Lets Fukk"

If you have to "make love" through having sex, then there was no love before ... correct

Hey Blue, long time

Well, to me "like" is something i might say about someone who is really cool. It can be a girl or a guy, but it has to be someone that really appeals to me, and has a potential to be my friend. Someone who's company I enjoy.

Being "in love" is lusting after someone. It's the butterflies in your stomach, it's the constant want to see the person, hear their voice, have sex with them, and do crazy things just to satisfy that craving.

"Love" is a feeling that you have to grow and nurture. It's mutual respect and commitment to one another. I am of course referring to life partners, however it can also be translated into a deep friendship bond, or family love as well.

Now sometimes these feelings do grow out of one another, but other times not. Each of us finds love their own unique way. You gotta be very dedicated and committed to have it.

Also, i think that it's totally possible to fall in love with someone, and marry them, and then - be realistic - relationships have some "down time", some boring phases. Well, true love can get you through that, but you can fall in love with your partner over and over again throughout your whole life.
