Jah Mason : Reasonings @ firecamp.org
interview made by : Ragga Selah
In arriving at Fire Camp Studios Florida, I had no idea
what kind of a night I was in for when I met the humble lion,
Jah Mason. All in all, the night was a great experience and a
chance to reason with the very same lion. Foregoing the usual
reasonings; Ethiopia and Ghana, Jah Mason chose to reason with
the Fire Camp family about his experience when he toured in
Isra'el...not far from the ever controversial Gaza Strip. Some
of the details will be with held for obvious reasons of security
for one and all involved. But the lion certainly made it clear that
the place is a pure war zone, where anything can happen at any time.
For those of us, myself included, who have only been to Isra'el via
television, radio and magazines. The mental image that the lion drew
was astonishingly different. Naturally, the security is quite tight
around there, even stronger than the immediate post September 11, 2001
destruction of the infamous World Trade Center of New York City.
"The vibes over there are nice, from all of the soldiers...they love
Rasta over there" He was affirming that the soldiers over there are a
bit younger and more serious than the ones that we find over here and
that is overstandable taking into consideration the overall conditions
of the place. One thing that I found quite surprising in his reasonings
about Isra'el is that the weapons over there are customized such as we'd
go to order custom cars and rims, they do that for their guns. I found
that odd as well as the statement that guns can be found all throughout
the streets like cigarette butts. To any accord, Jah Mason gives the highest
raspect to the Most High for blessing him with the talent and drive to
have such a blessed occupation (never a job), for this is something that
he has been culturing as an 'inborn' concept since the age of fifteen in
the country setting of Manchester, Jamaica. He also thanks veteran artists
such as Tony Rebel & Capleton for freeing up the opportunity to get his
love out to the people. Music hasn't and will not become a job to him.
He has referred to it as a "twiggy" He's not a deejay, but a chanter...
as he ascribed it is not fully his, but the mystic of the Most High
speaking through him. The love, the honor, the humbleness given to
the Lion.

Jah Mason overstands that there needs to be revolution. That the
leaders of the world have purpose though they may not always do what
is right for the peoples of the world, they have their purpose and
they do their appointed jobs good to a certain degree. In time, the
revolution will forward full speed. But for now, it will have to be
done in smaller, less aggressive steps until that appointed time.
Many Jamaicans know that their not fully satisfied with the head of
government and their corrupt ways, but fail to see that without these
heads of government, the country (as any other) would fall into
disrepair. Jah Jah Mason leads a livity of love and remains humble
through it all. The unprompted sentence "There will forward more
important people than the I, we all must work together to fully
achieve the greatness that we are capable of having. If we keep on
splitting and splashing heads, then we are only defeating ourselves
and those who we seek to overcome shall for-Iver over stand us"
To any event, we are all grateful that Jah Mason has this "twiggy"
that we all may full-joy.
