Tok Interview

atlantic Record Tok Unknown Langage Miss K: Welcome to dancehallareaz.com wassup

Tok: Im cool im good

Miss K: where did you get the name tok? what does it (tok) stand for?

Tok: Alex actually came up with the name. It originally meant Touch Of Klass, but we tend to play around with the meaning sometimes. We've used Together On Key, Titans Of Kingston, Taking Over Kingston.

Miss K: How did you get involved with music, how did everything started?

Tok: We all loved the sound of R&B groups and knew that we could reproduce those harmonies. We started singing at school, in the choir and at various events. The ladies loved it so we continued. After school we never stopped and here we are.

Miss K: who was your individual inspiration? (to each members)

Tok: Alex: Michael Jackson
Craig T: Jacob Miller, Ini Kamoze, Supercat
Flexx: Barrington Levy, Stevie Wonder
Bay-C: Bob Marley, Shabba Ranks, & Bounty Killa

Miss K: what or who brought the four of you together?

Tok: God brought us together.

Miss K: what gave you the idea, Inspiration for the song footprint

Tok: The song was inspired by the loss of Gavin McCalla, Alex's brother.

Miss K: If you could name one thing you could change in the world what would it be?

Tok: Poverty and suffering

Miss K: Did they expect the song to be such a big hit especially since after a year

Tok: Yes, we knew because of the message of the song that people would be drawn to it.

Miss K: Your song on the Season Riddim is hott and somehow I sense a change in your direction of music i.e. Life on the Cry Baby Riddim. What differentiating factors influenced this change and what can we expect from you in the future?

Tok: It's just growth. We've matured and even though we'll still do party songs and hardcore ones, we're just doing our part in sending a positive message out there. We have a new song in Jamaica now, called "Tears," which deals with domestic abuse.

Miss K: Do you plan on working with hip hop artist? which ones?

Tok: We actually worked with Pitbull from Miami on this album. If we end up doing more, then it happens. We're not trying to piggyback off of any artist. T.O.K. has a full sound of their own. If we're approached to do a song and we like the idea then we'll do it.

Miss K: Outside of music, what else interests you?

Tok: The ladies.

Miss K: What advice could you give to other group trying to make it in the competitive music industry??
And what would you say to all your fans?

Tok: Persistence is the key. Never give up on your dreams. No matter how huge the barriers are. To our fans we say, thanks so much for everything. Keep supporting us and stay solid as a rock.
