(MK) Hey How you doing?
(LS) I'm alright Thank you.
(MK) I Wanna congratulates you for your upcoming album
(LS)Thank you Thank you.
(MK) What inspired You To Become a Dancehall / reggae Artists?
(LS) I was inspired to become a Dancehall artists because of the struggle you know hardship *laughs* i realize at an early age i could sing and i could write like not write song just make up song remember them like two weeks after you know so thats when i was like O.K i could do this i could be a star
(MK) How did you become the Queen of the Dancehall
(LS) I became to queen of the Dancehall because i'm the best women did the best who still doing it doesn't matter who come who goes people still regard me as that they crown me the queen of the Dancehall i'm the best of the best baby
(MK) There is rumors about you retiring is there any truth to it?
(LS) I'm never retire no i think maybe when im old because i have so much energy and the talent is there if I'm not into like recording myself
after a while i'll definitely be producing all the young artists coming up you know i have two labels, house production and divas record and as soon as i go back home I'll definitely be recruiting new acts you know young artists so i don't see myself retiring anytime soon.
(MK) Any new acts in mind?
(LS) Well i met one chick don't remember her name cause she has a funny name beautiful but funny i recorded her already and i met
guys every day young girls every day who wants me you know to do something for them give them a brake. a lot of people asking me to assist
so I'll get the time now that I'm not longer you know on signed up on contract I'm on my on now so i can do it
(MK) Tell me what’s different with this record in contrast to the "Walk Out"?
(LS) Walk out is different from the other album simply because its more personal the song infertility its very important song to me very personal you know i wrote that song when i had my second miscarriage and also I'm more grown up on this album I'm not as raw as i used to be so you can play
this album at home and not have your mama say what the hell! you know maybe one or two words in one song but all the others are clean and im also singing trying to please my whole fans who wanted me to sing more
(MK) From Day one you started Do you believe you matured and why?
(LS) I believe i mature because I'm now 37 looking like 16 still and my topic more mature more grown not more grown but more positive you know I'm not the world prettiest this is telling people listen you need to love yourself if you don't have a straight nose. It doesn't matter i don't have to be perfect just love what gods as created so yes Ive mature from the raw to person you usually know not that i won't do it on stage I'd still be doing it
(MK) How do you feel about the changes in Dancehall /reggae Music? Is the new better or worse than 5, 10 or 15 years ago?
(LS) The change that I'm looking at right now that i don't like is the fact is that years ago people used to live in harmony like you could find 10 artists who is Dancehall working on one song everybody's happy now what you find is competition people like start getting envious about other artists another artist position they holding.
like take for me I'm the queen of Dancehall
i have female who are jealous of me they hypocrite and its not good they other thing is everybody fights in life the male are acting like chicks right now
arguing with each other and the ego and all that its messing up the whole business i don't like that you know but what i do like this is the change i like and I'm looking out right now our local acts are getting a chance to get a chance to be like on the Grammy usually you don't get the Dancehall artists out there Shabba was the first one who really you know got that chance now Sean Paul and everybody is feeling that they you know can go to the Grammy we breaking outdoors you know what I'm saying and barriers and all that.
(MK) Since you put your first record out in The 90's, how do you feel you have contributed to the scene yourself?
(LS) I contributed a lot.A lot of female they are now looking up to me a lot of female idolize me there so many ladies who wanna be right now i contribute right there female admire me like female feels like woah! as a woman she as strong as the men are you know i get paid like the boys or sometimes more then the boys or as much as the boys so female sense looking at that as u know look at me as a strong women and they do idolize me and look up to me some of them you know thats great.
(MK) In One of your song you refer to a crew, whom consist your crew?
(LS) The song my crew thats what you talking about. my crew is not really about me its just everyday living every day life i look at people's life and like people in my surrounding people in the dancehall younger folks i look at what they dancing what they talking about you know in the dancehall you have the thing name walkout where woman walk out in front of other women
you know its like a crew like this crew is saying to that crew my crew push the axes right you know but this song wasn't really about that and it turned out to be like that....cause a lot of people are now grabbing teeth into it
and like woah yo mi crew this and dat this song basically
it was addressing some hypocrite friends of mine like i teach them out to make money you know introduce them good life give them a break and then they start talking behind my back you know so i make them know its just no money me no money long time you know we a dress long time inna hot clothes and hot hair how we ah push hot cyar o there is two answers right there you know its for me and the dancehall fan u know the real street one.
(MK) Rumor around are saying that you are with child is there any truth to that rumors?
(LS) Withchild? no I'm not pregnant and i only everybody must have know now i only have 3 adopted kids an they are all grown up im not pregnant i had 2 miscarriages sometimes i look buldgy around the waste but thats because I'm lazy i wish that was true tho
(MK) What inspired you to write a song about infertility?
(LS) I was inspired to write infertility because of my miscarriages and also in Jamaica people tend to talk about me not having a child and trying to get attention or get a brake or get noticed thats the topic they dj about or sing about so i address that I'm telling them listen its not about me you know infertility i'm not infertile cause i have it popping up but what i made the song infertility because its like two side to the coin I'm talking about miscarriages out there because i had miscarriages and I'm talking about infertility other women i met who are attending my doctor and go see my doctor in a regularly everyday you have a conversation with other women and they were going through that
(MK) Besides Music what do you like to do (What is a typical day in your life)
(LS) My typical day is cooking cooking like crazy i like cooking i love cooking and i like trimming my dogs mek dem look pretty sending the kids to school waking up next to them you know clean the house clean clean thats how i am
(MK) What do you want to tell your fans?
(LS) I need to tell my fans that you need to get this album you hear. its bad ass and you get a different side of lady saw also on there
you know lady Marion. im loving it everybody who got it already is loving it and i need to tell them dancehall is support over the year being so supportive of me you know so mi wan big dem up. The song on there call big up is to all my fans so go get it yeah.and the album the walk out title it means I'm walking towards better things more positive things I'm leaving negativity behind and anything thats negative to me is question or whoever I'm not interested in that.
