Review

Kevin Costner plays a newly divorce father and a writer who was awarded full custody of his two kids, a daughter and a son. He moves into a new house in attempt to build a new life. His daughter, Louisa is having difficulty adapt and understand why her mother left them. She finds comfort on some type of mountain but her attitude changes which makes her father wonder if he is failing as a dad. As body piles up, strange things happens, her dad finds out that the mountain is possessed by an ancient evil God that he has unleashed when he decided to get rid of the mountain hoping it would save his daughter from the faith of the previous family. The evil wants his daughter, but what for?

This is the first “horror” flick I watch with Kevin Costner and I must say, he made the movie a success, despite the visuals of the monsters being a déjà vu, and I thought was a lack of imagination, wish they had come up with something more original or simply not showing their faces, perhaps keeping them as shades would have been better. The “historical” part of the monsters didn’t quite make completely sense to me. I wish they had developed a bit about it to satisfy those curious minds. Suspense builds up well, story line easy to follow, it wasn’t gory at all, and you don’t actually see the killings. The visual effects of the dead bodied seemed real enough. The perfect daughter is one of those movies which seemed to have been forgotten but perfect for those long week-ends with nothing to do.
